In 2003, in an attempt to impress a girl, Adam and Nick, both college students, recorded a cover song. After some time working on someone else’s music, Nick sent a demo of a song he’d written along to Adam that seemed to catch his attention. Within an hour of showing the basic layout of the song to Adam, the two had their first of many musically magical moments that the band has come to call “Spotless Moments.” It signaled the beginning of the band, which, later, would call to its ranks Nick’s long-time friend and musical veteran Akil James on drums and a former co-worker (from the unfortunate dayjob) of Adam's on bass, known as Slam.

The song was Come to Grips, which is the last track on the band’s first EP Make Your Escape, which, along with four other songs penned by the collaborative Mind, was released in June of 2006.

The band has been working tirelessly on new material that spans stylistically from funk and prog-rock to punk and hard rock. Each member brings something to the table; each being a multi-instrumentalists, ideas are always able to be conveyed in ways that otherwise would take incredible amounts of time or simply be lost.

Spotless Mind focuses their shows in the New York city metro area, but have recently been looking to expand to other northeastern areas such as Boston and Philadelphia. They are interested in one thing, and one thing only: playing their music the way they want to.
